The aim was to evaluate if the use of a lower anterior occlusal plate would reduce the pain, and whether the pain arised from masticatory system dysfunction. For this, a lower Front Plateau was made and the patient returned to the clinic for reevaluation. Other therapies were used with the plaque: lasertherapy, guidelines for TMD patients, and for sleep hygiene. The patient reported improvement in submandibular pain and in sleep quality, however, the headache continued. When the headache diary was applied, it was found that the pain occurred when the patient watched television or classes with slide projection. Thus, she was instructed to look for an ophthalmologist who diagnosed photophobia. After the use of appropriate glasses, the patient reported complete remission of symptoms. It was concluded that the use of Front Plateau provided relief from symptoms related to masticatory muscles and, associated to the headache diary, it helped in the differential diagnosis for photophobia.
