Vol. 2 – Number 8 – 2021 Case report Page 42-50 Refining lip sculpture needles or microcanulas – case report Marcelo Zandoná¹ Victor Hugo W. Bagio² Sidmarcio Ziroldo³ Abstract The perioral region is a very important anatomical part, where aging plays a role in muscle and adjacent soft tissue transformation of significant importance on the face. The restructuring of these volumes, through the application of injectable implants with filler materials, is of great importance in harmonizing the face. This study seeks to fill a gap found in the planning of the application of hyaluronic acid (HA), in order to treat, prevent and restructure the anatomy of the lips; it also observes the advantages and disadvantages in the application of HA injectable implants with the use of needles or microcannulas and which is the most appropriate approach to be adopted for each case. Both techniques were applied at different times in the same patient, evaluating results, difficulties and differences related to each technique. The clinical results were satisfactory in both techniques. Some details were noted that can lead professionals to define them by using one technique or another, or even by the mixed application of the techniques, depending on the objective of the procedure, aiming at postoperative comfort and improving the clinical result of the case.
