HUGO NAGEM TIPS – I’m sorry, but it can’t be tomorrow

Vol. 13 – Number 49 – 2021 HUGO NAGEM TIPS Page 4 I’m sorry, but it can’t be tomorrow. This Pandemic brought with it the immediacy that technology was taking away from us. The magic that was used in the old days and that smartphones stole from us. The human warmth that the notebook has cooled. I’m sorry, but it can’t be tomorrow. We can’t have that long, tight hug tomorrow. We can’t have that warm, crisp kiss tomorrow. There can’t be that loving look tomorrow. There can be no tomorrow with that I LOVE YOU or FORGIVE ME. There can be no tomorrow with those comforting words. There can’t be that empathetic, non-judgmental listening tomorrow. In short, tomorrow is full of things to be done, and it can’t be tomorrow. It has to be today. It has to be today, because your spouse is at home waiting for you. It has to be today because your children are anxious to see you. It has to be today because your co-workers, employees, and leaders are there just waiting for you to arrive. It has to be today, because the world has open arms to welcome you. It has to be today, because that liberating rain is falling right now. It has to be today because that song that triggers the best emotions and memories is playing on the radio right now. Today there is still time, tomorrow may not be. Today is the day you can do it, tomorrow only God decides if you will have that time or not. Today is certainty, tomorrow is doubt. Today is yes, tomorrow is maybe. Today I am here, tomorrow who knows. Today you want me, tomorrow you may want someone else. Today it’s affection, tomorrow it’s longing. In the midst of so many mismatches in this period of social isolation many marriages were broken up, because they left to do tomorrow what they could have done today. Many jobs were lost, because they stopped training today in order to study tomorrow. Many lives were taken, because they didn’t give the proper importance to their health today, in order to eat and exercise tomorrow. Tomorrow it could all be dust. Today everything is firm. At the end of this reading I challenge you to give a tight hug to the one next to you, without saying anything, in silence. Just let today act. If there is no one by your side, call a friend or relative you haven’t seen in a while and tell them you miss them. Just say it and be silent, letting your words echo on the other end of the phone. The intensity of a moment is worth more than the regret of a lifetime.
