Hugo Nagem Tips – How much do you control your mind?

Vol. 11 – Number 42 – 2020 Hugo Nagem Tips Page 4 How much do you control your mind? Stop now and think quickly: of everything that worries you, makes you distressed, of everything that you thought could happen to you last week, happened exactly the way you thought or imagined? Everything that made you stay in bed for hours without sleep, or generating such intense anxiety that you lost the whole day just thinking about the future, or anticipating something that could go wrong? Of all this, what percentage is in your control? What thoughts and doubts depended or depend only on you and how many on others? Which ones can you change and which ones don’t, that is, after all, what do you really know is in your control or not? We tend to spend our most precious asset, which is time, and we also spend energy to think about things that are totally out of our control or even our influence. How many times we let ourselves be carried away by the traffic that is intense, by the unexpected rain, the person who booked with us and is late for an important presentation and even a flight that was cancelled. Every day I see more and more people eager for news that they have received, by whatever means, by someone, by television, newspaper or social networks and almost instantly start a plan to prevent such a thing from happening to them, and in this way they disconnect themselves from the present moment and stop doing exactly what they proposed to do and that was really in their control. Many times this suffering by anticipation, this excess of the future makes us sick physically and mentally because of frantic thoughts of something that may never happen, and even more, if it does, it will be 10% of what we imagine and yet in a totally different way, leading the individual to an endless neurosis, day after day in seeking the answers to what he imagined would happen and simply did not occur. Looking for answers for himself to justify his reaction to something that is not in his control. We will never be free of bad news or future thoughts, even because we do not control what others say, much less control what our mind creates in thought form. But we can control our action right away. We are able to keep ourselves in the present moment, with the breath under control, the oxygenated mind, and then we are able to elaborate a thought which we control and we can follow a life free of suffering. The best way is to stay focused on what we plan for what we are doing, at that moment, day, month, year, that is, for life. Our future is created and done only by ourselves and it is being created right here and right now, at this very moment when you are reading this article. I suggest that you go back to your initial planning, get rid of the future thoughts that generate anxiety, drink more water, eat well, put more colors on your plate, sleep better, tell your children and spouse more I LOVE you, stop rolling the social networks feed, leave the cell phone aside and do a good reading. By doing this you will certainly be creating a better future for yourself and getting rid of all anticipation of suffering that is out of your control.
