Orlando Tanaka1 Gil Guilherme Gasparello2 Sergio Luiz Mota-Júnior3 Jacqueline de Almeida Antunes4 Matheus Melo Pithon5 Introduction Artificial Intelligence (AI), even in its early stages, has demonstrated remarkable advances in orthodontics1, with a significant impact on fundamental areas of orthodontic research, such as diagnosis, treatment planning, automated detection and analysis of anatomical landmarks, as well as the assessment of growth and development2. This emerging technology is positioning itself as a transformative force in the healthcare sector, finding applications in various specialties, including orthodontics. Precision and accuracy are vital in this area, as procedures often result in irreversible changes3. However, each malocclusion is unique, which makes diagnosis and treatment highly individualized4. The aim of this paper is to discuss thirteen issues distributed into three main themes addressed in recent literature. These themes are: “Sliding jig. How, when, why and for what?”5, “Fixed canine-to-canine retention for flossing. Type omega?”6 and “Rapid maxillary expansion: a controversial technique or a revolutionary advance in orthodontics?”7. The proposed questions were formulated by the authors and the answers generated on 01/09/2023 by ChatGPT 4.0, available at the link (https://chat.openai.com/chat). In evaluating the answers generated by ChatGPT, the authors rated the quality of the information on a scale of 1 to 5: 1 representing “very bad”; 2 “bad”; 3 “acceptable”; 4 “good” and; 5 “very good”. Higher scores reflected a higher quality and consistency of information.8 1 Full Professor – PPGO – PUCPR – School of Medicine and Life Sciences, Diplomate of the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics, Postdoctoral Fellow at The Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University – Saint Louis – MO/USA. 2 Doctoral student in Dentistry-Orthodontics – PUC-PR – School of Medicine and Life Sciences. 3 PhD in Health – UFJF, Post-doctoral student – UFJF, Professor of the Specialization Course in Orthodontics – UFJF. 4 Specialist in Orthodontics – IEA. 5 Professor of Orthodontics – UESB, Director of the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics – BBO.
