The dentist should always be aware of the rules and standards of each modality that his patient practices. The article aims to alert dentists about medication prescription and scheduling procedures for athletes, and to exemplify through a supernumerary extraction. It was concluded that there is the need to include a dentist in the clubs health department to monitor athlete oral health, to perform surgical and non-surgical procedures with knowledge of the particularities and rules of each modality practiced.
