Thus, the technological evolution of restorative materials brings with it the constant search of dentistry for aesthetic treatments of excellence. In order to recover the aesthetics of the smile in challenging situations of dental darkening, the dentist has some treatment options, of which, the direct veneers in composite resin and the indirect veneers in ceramic have different particularities and clinical applications. This study aimed at clinical cases of direct and indirect buccal faceting of anterior teeth, using composite resin and dental ceramics, performing a comparative analysis between both restorative techniques so that professionals can understand the indication, advantage, disadvantage and contraindication of such restorative modalities, aiming at achieving treatment success and patient satisfaction. Like all techniques, they have advantages and disadvantages. The direct technique presents limitations, such as lower color stability and difficulty in masking darkened substrates, on the other hand, they present lower costs, faster treatments and less/no wear of the dental structure. The indirect technique has limitations in terms of treatment completion time and higher cost, but has good color stability, high resistance and good periodontal recovery. It was concluded that the aesthetic facets, obtained through the direct and indirect technique, represent viable restorative alternatives. and wide clinical applicability.
