Interceptor procedures in class III maloclusion – case report

Vol. 15 – Number 59 – 2022 Case report Page 55-62 Interceptor procedures in class III maloclusion – case report Alexa Nicole Guerrero¹ Antonio Carlos Pereira¹ João Sarmento Pereira¹ Eduardo César Almada¹ Abstract This case report presents interceptive orthodontic procedures in the mixed dentition performed in a patient with Angle Class III skeletal malocclusion. Orthodontic appliances were used to benefit mandibular positioning and direct the eruption of permanent teeth, among them are the progenic appliance, Schwartz appliance, recuperator and space maintainer. The use of these devices at the appropriate stages helped to minimize the maxillomandibular sagittal discrepancy, correct tooth inclination and maintain the facial profile without noticeable changes. Therefore, this case report was presented as an adequate option in the Orthodontics-pediatric Dentistry clinic in the early treatment of a patient with Angle Class III malocclusion. Descriptors: Orthodontics, Angle Class III malocclusion, interceptive Orthodontics. ¹ Department of Health Sciences and Child Dentistry – FOP-Unicamp. DOI: 10.24077/2022;1559-01992131
