Can mandibular propulsion be used with vestibularized lower incisors?

Vol. 13 – Number 52 – 2020 Case report Page 81-87 Can mandibular propulsion be used with vestibularized lower incisors? Stenyo Wanderley Tavares¹ Marjorie Barbosa de Almeida Oliveira² Abstract An excellent alternative to Class II treatment are fixed mandibular propulsion appliances. In general, they are devices that do not cause significant changes in the maxilla or mandible because they promote Class II correction primarily by dental alterations through an increase in the lower incisors inclination, decrease of upper incisors inclination, and occlusal plane rotation. The question is if it is possible to use this type of device, even with the lower dental compensation already present, that is, with the lower incisors vestibularized. The objective of this study is to show through a clinical case the use of mandibular propulsion with this type of malocclusion. Descriptors: Orthodontics, malocclusion Angle class II, mandibular advancement. ¹ Teacher – ABO Pernambuco. ² Specialist in Orthodontics – CPGO Recife, Professor of the Training Course in Orthodontics – CPGO Recife.
