In Dentistry it is used to treat bruxism, sialorrhea, orofacial dystonia, masseter muscle hypertrophy, temporomandibular disorder, among others. In addition, it started to be used in orofacial harmonization in facial asymmetries, treatment of expression lines, among others. The neurotoxin acts on the nerve cell by inhibiting the release of acetylconline, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction. Adverse effects are rare, eyelid ptosis being one of the most reported. Palpebral ptosis has the clinical characteristic of 1 to 2mm eyelid decline and it occurs after the use of botulinum toxin in the muscles of the upper third of the face. Ptosis resolution occurs in up to two weeks, but in some cases, it can reach months. The reversal protocol consists of a set of instructed treatments presented in this article. Descriptors: Botulinum toxin, eyelid ptosis, blepharoptosis. ¹ Full Professor of the Dentistry Course – Centro Universitário UniFBV Wyden, Me. In Health Sciences, Me.
