Vol. 11 – Number 44 – 2020 CLINICAL DENTISTRY NOTEBOOK Case report Page 102-108 Dark unit element: a clinical challenge Simone Alberton¹ Victória Alberton² Daiane Casarin³ ABSTRACT Over an extended period, predictable and durable restorations were obtained using full crown preparation. However, with the development and improvement of adhesion, dental procedures increasingly conservative and without significant dental structure wear have been the treatment of choice in Dentistry. However, teeth that are darkened or chromatically different are a major cause of patients aesthetic dissatisfaction and this treatment represents a great challenge for us, dental surgeons. Restorations of darkened teeth require more dental wear and the big question is how to obtain the ideal space for masking the substracte. Success in rehabilitation with indirect restoration depends on success in indication, planning and in all treatment steps. Thus, this study aimed to report a case of ceramic veneer in a single tooth with darkened substrate in a 3-year follow-up. Descriptors: Ceramics, dental aesthetic, dental veneers. ¹ Esp., Me.
