Sakamoto Column: Direct restoration in composite resin – maintenance, repair and conservation

Vol. 9 – Number 33 – 2019 Sakamoto column Page 26-36 Direct restoration in composite resin – maintenance, repair and conservation Antonio Setsuo Sakamoto Junior¹ Abstract Which is the best aesthetic restorative material, resin or ceramic? Hard to answer, do you agree? There is no consensus among professionals, because it depends on the academic/ philosophical formation of each one, there are advantages and limitations in all dental materials. Because Oral health is not an exact science, there is no right or wrong, because there are several ways to solve the same problem. Currently, I have observed many procedures with thin laminate veneers, where I think it would be more appropriate to use composite resin. At a congress attended by Professor Sidney Kina, he began his lecture with a phrase simple ≠ easy when addressing a reflection on clinical protocols, today we see that many teachers “create” complex techniques that are difficult to use. We should do the simple well done and uncomplicate our daily lives to avoid stress. In this paper, I separate a clinical case of composite resin veneers, where many colleagues solved problems with ceramic laminates, related to return after 36 months and after performing repair and polishing. Descriptors: Dental esthetics, dental restoration failure, dental restoration repair, composite resins. 1 Graduated in Dentistry – UEM, Me.
