Evaluation of the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid in the reconstruction of interdental papillae – case report

Vol. 1 – Number 3 – 2020 Case report Page 38 Evaluation of the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid in the reconstruction of interdental papillae – case report Stephanie Alderete Feres Teixeira¹ Sidmarcio Ziroldo² Victor Hugo Werner Baggio¹ ABSTRACT The purpose of this article is to report the use of hyaluronic acid in a female patient of approximately 45 years, presenting recessions up to 4 mm in the interdental papilla between the anterior central incisors. Before treatment, photographic images were taken at a ratio of 1:1. After administration of an anesthetic, a 26G1 / 2 “0.45X13 fine needle was used to inject approximately 0.3 ml viscoelastic gel of crosslinked synthetic hyaluronic acid at 24 mg / ml concentration (SURGIDERM – Allergan) following a technique of 3 step (TST). Applications were performed with a 15-day interval and the evaluations occurred at baseline and 30 days after the last (final) application. The sites were photographed with parallel shots before and after the applications. The computer program measured the changes in pixels between the initial and final treatments, determining the percentage variation in the negative space between the initial and final exams.The results showed a positive result, concluding that the application of hyaluronic acid was effective in the treatment of lower papillary recessions to 4 mm, generating evidence that small papillary deficiencies can be adequately treated by injecting a gel of hyaluronic acid.
