However, some factors should be considered within the practice of disinfection as ensuring that the product is effective and that the components of this product do not change dimensionally and interfering in the detail reproduction of the resulting model This study aims to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of stone models obtained alginate molds handled with 2% chlorhexidine and molds prepared with water and disinfected with sodium hypochloride. From a prefabricated master model 36 were produced molds divided in three groups according disinfection method performed: control group (no disinfection manipulated with distilled water), the experimental group 1 (manipulated chlorhexidine) and experimental group 2 ( immersion in sodium hypochlorite mixed with water). After the moldings and disinfection process the molds were cast with plaster stone type IV and then measured with a digital caliper. Then subjected to statistical tests (Student t). According to the results and in view of its limitations, it may be concluded that none of the experimental groups showed significant dimensional changes. Descriptors: Dental impression materials, biosecurity, accuracy dimensional measurement. ¹ Dentistry Course – UniFacid Wyden.
