The estomatognatic system constitutes an association of the craniofacial growth with the adjacent neuromuscular structures, which presents peculiar characteristics in the different life stages. The normality pattern should be known by all the professionals included in this process, so that the treatment plan respects the typical characteristics of each age and approaches the whole problems presented by the patient (functional, dental and/or skeletal). The dentition development happens simultaneous with the mastication, deglutition, breathing and speech functions, which ripen and develop in agreement with the dental elements and remained spaces in the oral cavity. This article aimed to enlighten this evolution and interrelation in an orthodontic and fonoaudiologic approach. Keywords: Myofunctional Therapy, Stomatognathic System , Speech Therapy.
