Class II treatment with sequential distalization of upper teeth using Invisalign aligners

Vol. 16 – Number 62 – 2023 Case report Page 38-56 Class II treatment with sequential distalization of upper teeth using Invisalign aligners Ricardo Moresca¹ Ana Carolina de Oliveira Garcia D’Amato² Veronnica Rolemberg Cantuario² Abstract The use of aligners in orthodontic treatment is an increasingly reality in the routine of orthodontists, especially in adult patients who seek more comfortable and aesthetic alternatives to conventional fixed appliances. The treatment of Class II with aligners represents a major challenge in current Orthodontics, since case planning, the mechanical principles employed, and the expected results may vary in relation to traditional mechanics. Considering the current importance and recurrence of the topic, the objective of this article was to report the case of an adult patient with Class II malocclusion treated with sequential distalization of the upper teeth using Invisalign, as well as to discuss the prescription employed and the results of the treatment, clarifying orthodontists about the potential advantages and disadvantages of this treatment modality. Descriptors: Orthodontics, Class II, aligners. ¹ Full Professor – UFPR. ² Dentistry Course Students – UFPR. DOI: 10.24077/2023;1662-060123e4
