Vol. 13 – Number 50 – 2022 GROIS COLUMN Page 8-13 Osteoplasty in the posterior region of the maxilla associated with the installation of implants – case report Luciano Henrique Ferreira Lima1 Fernando Matheus Santana Tunel2 Tárcio Skiba3 Bruno Sá3 Cláudio Nóia4 Abstract Dental implants have been a viable option for patients with partial or complete edentulism, being associated with a high success rate. However, proper planning is based on several criteria and one of these is the interocclusal space. This space should be about 5 to 6 mm for proper rehabilitation and some adjuvant procedures are available to reestablish this space, when reduced. The aim of this study is to report a case of reduced crown height space in edentulous right maxillary ridge in which osteoplasty was performed associated with the insertion of 3 external hexagon type dental implants. Therefore, a thorough and critical analysis of the disadvantages and advantages of the management options for clinical conditions on reduced interocclusal space is necessary, in addition to the individualization of cases.
