Its insertion is located on the lips and in the alveolar ridge at the midline. In some cases, it may present hypertrophy or atypical insertion in the alveolar ridge between the central incisors, causing diastema, malocclusion, periodontal disease, aesthetic problems, and dysphonia. In these situations, labial frenectomy is indicated and has the purpose of restoring the anatomy of the region and treating or preventing the disorders described. The present study aims to report a clinical case, which an upper labial frenectomy was performed in a classic technique adaptation and to review the literature about the procedure. The described technique has great relevance in clinical practice due to its easy execution, low cost, and satisfactory result.
