Genetic material modification and cell proliferation decrease, resulting in loss of elasticity and the ability to regulate metabolism. Collagen fibers become more rigid and there is reduction of elastic fibers, leading to the appearance of wrinkles, and tissue replication becomes less efficient. In a young skin, cells take about 28 days to reach the surface. In a more mature skin, this “turnover” happens in about 40 days. This means a skin with an accumulation of aged and dead cells, opaque and dull. Not only age, but other factors such as UV rays exposure, pollution, lack of sleep and nutrition contribute to a slower cell renewal rate. Taking proper care in relation to appearance is not just a matter of aesthetics, but a way to gain self-esteem and self-confidence. There are several techniques that can be used to reduce these aging signs. This work shows a clinical case of a single session using electrocautery in the orbital region rejuvenation. After fulguration, the Red Led 660nm 30-second phototherapy was used on the area worked. The result was promising, with reduction of skin sagging and rhytids in the region, probably due to skin retraction caused by tissue trauma in just one session.
