Restorative treatment of occult caries lesion using the Bulk Fill resin associated with the occlusal matrix – case report

Vol. 14 – Number 53 – 2022 NOTEBOOK OF CLINICAL DENTISTRY Case report Page 70-77 Restorative treatment of occult caries lesion using the Bulk Fill resin associated with the occlusal matrix – case report Marcelo Filadelfo Silva¹ ABSTRACT The restorative treatment of occult caries lesions, through the use of Bulk Fill composite resins in posterior teeth, has the potential to make this procedure more practical and comfortable for the patient. In the present case report, an occlusal matrix was made in colorless resin to obtain the full copy of the occlusal surface, prior to the minimally invasive dental preparation. After, the restorative step was conducted through the application of a single increment of about 4 mm and positioning on the matrix to give the occlusal surface an adequate shape. It is important to emphasize that one of the critical steps for the success of the procedure, in addition to its adequate indication, is the control of aspects related to the selection of the material, photoactivation, and knowledge of the stage of performing the occlusal matrix. Thus, in view of the satisfactory anatomical result obtained, as well as the reproduction of original functional and esthetic characteristics of the tooth, and the short clinical time required for its performance, the technique described fulfills its function as an alternative for performing restorations on affected posterior teeth for occult caries lesions.
