Polydioxanone smooth thread as an inducer of collagen formation – report case

Vol. 3 – Number 12 – 2022 Case report Page 60-70 Polydioxanone smooth thread as an inducer of collagen formation – report case Abílio Alves de Carvalho Neto1 Sidmarcio Ziroldo2 Pedro Ivo Polak Júnior3 Ana Paula de Freitas Farias Silva3 Morgana Martins Setubal4 ABSTRACT The objective of the present work is to demonstrate the technique using polydioxanone (PDO) thread on the entire face (fullface) to induce collagen through the report of a clinical case. 5 PDO threads 2-0 (Bioline®) and 2 PDO threads 5-0 (Bioline®). Threads 2-0 were introduced into the subcutaneous tissue with the aid of a 18G catheter (Descarpack) in the regions of the glabella, middle third, naso-genial and lip-mental wrinkles, while 5-0 threads were introduced in the regions of the glabella, frontal, ending in the submental. Post-procedure evaluation was carried out observing the following structures: fine and thick wrinkles, ridges and depressions as well as skin elasticity, tone and brightness. Data was analyzed through photos taken in the first 7 days, 60 days and 1 year and 3 months after the procedure. There is a clear visual change of the face with smoothing of fine and thick wrinkles with an increase in luminosity. It can be concluded that the smooth PDO thread through collagen induction promoted an improvement in the quality of the skin, leaving the face with a more youthful appearance. It is a very safe technique with rare hematomas and a differential feature without late volumization of the face, preserving the natural anatomical shape and contour of the face itself.
