Persistent intermittent delayed swelling

Vol. 4 – Number 16 – 2023 Literature review Page 74-79 Persistent intermittent delayed swelling Bruna Bernardi Dulnik¹ ABSTRACT Facial harmonization can include a combination of treatments, such as filling with hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, chemical peeling and laser. Hyaluronic acid fillers are a category of products used in cosmetic procedures to help restore skin volume and improve the appearance of wrinkles, folds and fine lines. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the human body, which helps keep the skin hydrated and voluminous. Persistent intermittent delayed edema is a type of edema that occurs late in relation to an initial event and persists for an extended period, often weeks to months. It is usually associated with traumatic injuries or surgery and can be a sign of complications or problems with healing. This swelling can be caused by a number of factors, such as fluid buildup due to damage to the lymphatic or venous vessels, chronic inflammation, infection, or poor wound healing. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause and may include compression therapy, lymphatic drainage, anti-inflammatory medications. It can be motivated by immunological stimuli such as local or systemic infections, but further investigations are still needed on its cause and on the really effective conducts. Descriptors: Hyaluronic acid, late edema, persistent intermittent edema. ¹ Graduated in Dentistry – UNICESUMAR, Specialist in orofacial harmonization. DOI: 10.24077/2023;164658798245
