Vol. 13 – Number 50 – 2022 JAQUES COLUMN Page 24-31 Implants anchored in the maxillary tuberosity with immediate loading Jaques Luiz¹ Julia Helena Luiz² Christian Rado Jarry³ Flavia Sukekava² Abstract The maxillary tuber region was considered an area of poor bone for anchoring osseointegrated implants, making it difficult to rehabilitate this region with these implants, without involving the maxillary sinus lift. The aim of these cases report was to propose a new concept in the rehabilitation of this area, with tilted implants, tangent to the distal wall of the maxillary sinus, which received immediate loading. Two systemic health adult patients complaining of multiple absences and tooth mobility sought care for oral rehabilitation. After clinical and imaging examinations, rehabilitation was offered with osseointegrated implants supporting prostheses with immediate loading, avoiding maxillary sinus lifting. In the lower arches of both patients, rehabilitation with implants and prostheses with immediate loading was also offered. At the end of up to 24 months of follow-up, the patients were satisfied with the results and the clinical follow-up has indicated the health of the periodontal and peri-implant tissues. This new concept for implant placement around the maxillary sinus obtained satisfactory results with 100% success in implants/prostheses at the end of this follow-up period. More long-term follow-up clinical studies are needed.
