Vol. 3 – Number 9 – 2021 Case report Page 44-51 Acne scar treatment using polydioxanone threads Associated with i-PRF – case report Marise Carrozza Lemos Cerqueira¹ Pedro Carvalho Feitosa² Alexandre Miyahira³ Abstract Acne vulgaris is a very common skin disease that mainly affects teenagers and young adults. It can often aggravate and form scars, leading to aesthetic and psychological damage. Numerous patients report scars left by the disease as their main complaint. Polydioxanone threads have a known action in increasing the concentration of collagen and elastin that support and attenuate the marks left by scars and aging. Platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) has its proven action in collagen synthesis, fibroblast activation, cell renewal and skin rejuvenation. As it is an autologous material, easy to obtain and that does not generate high cost to patients, this study aims to evaluate the results of the association of platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) with polydioxanone threads for the treatment of acne scars.
