The research was conducted through the databases Lilacs, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct, with the terms plataform switching, dental abutments, dental implants, peri-implant bone loss, implant-abutment interface, and microgap. We used 40 articles for this review, all in the English language. The inclusion criteria of the present study were articles published until 2017, randomized and non-randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, case-control studies. According to the exposed literature and the clinical case report, the benefits and indications of the switching platform were observed, being distinguished by the better biomechanical distribution, preservation of bone crest and soft tissues adjacent to the implant, and greater aesthetic predictability over the years, limiting the complications of this type rehabilitation treatment.
