Vinte e seis dentes uniradiculados que foram abertos, realizou-se a ondontometria e efetuou-se a instrumentação, padronizando-se o forame até a lima tipo K#30, e então, confeccionou-se o batente apical com Lima tipo K #50, procedendose os escalonamento até a lima tipo K #80. Durante todo preparo empregou-se o hipoclorito de sódio a 1% e ao final EDTA por 3 minutos e irrigação final com solução fisiológica. Após a instrumentação, os dentes foram impermeabilizados e divididos em dois grupos. No grupo 1 realizou-se um tampão de 3mm de MTA e após 24 horas realizou-se a obturação. O grupo 2 efetuou-se a obturação foi feita sem emprego de tampão. O cimento empregado para a obturação foi o AH Plus. Finalizada as obturações, as coroas foram seladas e os dentes imersos em Rhodamina a 1% durante 72 horas. Concluído esse período, os dentes foram removidos do corante, lavados, raspados e seccionados no sentido vestíbulo lingual. A hemisecção foi digitalizada conjuntamente com um régua e a infiltração mensurada no Image Tools 3.1. Os resultados mostraram que a média de infiltração no grupo com tampão foi de1,69mm, enquanto que no grupo 2 foi de 1,41mm. No confronto estatístico pelo teste de Mann Whitney, não houve diferença significante. Concluiu-se que o tampão de MTA não melhorou a capacidade seladora in vitro de obturações endodônticas.   Descritores: MTA, tampão apical, selamento apical   Abstract The objective of this present work was to analyze MTA’s influence in the sealing improvement of endodontic obturations. Twenty-six unirooted teeth were open, it was done an ondometry and it was done the instrumentation, standardizing the pit up to the file K#30, and then, it was made the apical surfline with file K#50, proceeding to the staggering up to file K#80. During all the preparation sodium hypochlorite was applied at 1% and at the EDTA’s end for three minutes and a final irrigation with physiologic solution. After the instrumentation the teeth were waterproofed and divided in two groups. In the group one it was done the 3mm MTA and subsequently to twentyfour hours the obturation was done. The group two the obturation was done without MTA. The cement used was AH Plus. When the obturations were finished, the crowns were sealed and the teeth were immersed in Rhodamine at 1% for seventy-two hours. Once that period was concluded, the teeth were removed from the dyeing, washed, rubbed out and sectioned to the direction of the tongue hall. The hemi-section was digitalized altogether with a rule and measured infiltration in the computer program Image Tools version 3.1. The results showed the the average infiltraton at the MTA group was 1,69mm, and in the group two was 1,41mm. at the statistic confrontation by Mann Whitney’s test, there was any meaningful difference. It was concluded that MTA didn’t improve the sealing capacity of endodontic obturations in the in vitro test.   Descriptors: MTA, apical sealing
