Bonded lingual retainers are commonly used to maintain tooth position after the orthodontic appliance has been removed. Due to its size and shape and to the anatomy of the of the anterior region of the lower arch, there are some difficulties in holding the retainer in place during bonding. These difficulties can compromise the correct placement of the retainer and the maintenance of the bond to the teeth. The inability to firmly hold the retainer in place during bonding procedure can increase appointment time and compromise the retainer stability. Significance: If a reliable, simple and fast way of holding the retainer in place were available, the clinician would be able to bond the lower retainers in a faster and more predictable way. The purpose in this article is to present a simple and reliable way of bonding lower lingual retainers. Keywords: Orthodontics, Orthodontic retainers, orthodontic wires.
