They are possible thanks to technological innovations, with the aim of facilitating individuals’ routine. The physical models of set up with plaster are being replaced by virtual models, called digital set up, which use the same principles, having as main characteristic being entirely virtual. The use of technologies in Dentistry has stood out for providing better means of action. This study aims to verify the benefits provided by the digital set up in Orthodontics, as a facilitator in dental treatments, evidencing facilities obtained for the daily life of the orthodontist. This research was of descriptive qualitative nature and its development occurred through a literature review, through the discussion of collected articles that deal with the digital set up in orthodontics. A bibliographic survey was carried out in the Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SciELO), Portal of the Coordination for Higher Education Personnel Improvement (CAPES), Google Scholar, PubMed and Bvs databases, with a temporal delimitation from 2011 to 2020 and seven articles were selected. The results showed advantages of digital set ups, when compared to manuals, highlighting the shorter working time, absence of laboratory steps, editing capacity, high precision, and the possibility of using it as a marketing tool, due to its dynamic character. It can be concluded that digital set ups are effective tools and constitute a reality within the elements of orthodontic diagnosis.
